The road to a 500lb Deadlift BLOG #15: Battling through some physical obstacles

5/24/2018

It’s been a while since the last blog for this series, but I’ve been continuing to strive for the goal of 500lbs by the end of the year. Going on about 2 months, from what started out as just a little annoying hip pain has developed into a dang constant throb and frustrating injury. Injuries can happen, but it’s how we accept them and what our willingness to dig deeper than before and overcome is what keeps us moving forward. Last night, this hip of mine woke we up completely locked up. After stretching for a couple of minutes it subsided enough to get some more sleep and headed to the gym at the normal time. After warming up and working on some hip mobility, I was able to workup to 275 on low bar back squats and grooved it pretty well.

Strength is still hanging around where it was but no movement forward has happened in a while. We all will battle walls to push through, but need to stay focused on your overall goal and do everything in our power to keep putting our feet out in front of us taking the steps towards success.

I will overcome this minor injury, and I will reach this goal I’ve set for this year. But after I do, it’s no time to sit back and relax. It will be off toward another goal.
